Manufacturing Engineer (m/f/d)

Your tasks
As part of our growing Production team in Albergaria-a-Velha, Portugal, we are looking for a motivated and technically skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support the industrialization, optimization, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes.
In this key role, you will be responsible for setting up and qualifying production lines, transferring new products into mass production, improving manufacturing processes, and serving as the technical interface between development and production teams across Testo's international network. You will play a crucial role in ensuring high product quality, operational excellence, and efficient production performance.
- Drive process excellence: Analyze and optimize production processes to improve quality, cost efficiency, and delivery performance.
- Lead industrialization projects: Manage projects focused on production performance improvements, digitalization initiatives, and process optimization.
- Production line setup & qualification: Establish and qualify production lines for Testo products, working closely with development and production teams in Germany and China.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Transfer product designs from prototype development into stable series production, including process validation and production readiness activities.
- Manufacturing process development: Develop, qualify, and optimize manufacturing processes such as electronic assembly and testing, cable processing, crimping, splicing, and ferrule processing.
- Technical production support: Act as the central technical contact for production-related issues, ensuring problem resolution while maintaining quality and delivery performance.
- Documentation & training: Create and maintain work instructions, manufacturing documentation, routings, and bills of materials, and train employees on new products and processes.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Logistics, Development, and Quality teams to support product changes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Your profile
- Educational background: University degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
- Professional experience: Ideally 5–8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process industrialization, production engineering, or a comparable industrial environment.
- Manufacturing expertise: Experience in production process optimization, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and project management methodologies.
- Industrialization know-how: Solid experience transferring products from development into serial production, including process validation, FMEA, control plans, and production readiness reviews.
- Technical competencies: Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA or SAP R/3 and experience creating and maintaining manufacturing master data, work plans, and production documentation.
- Process knowledge: Experience with cable processing technologies, connection and crimping processes, and ideally ferrule manufacturing processes and qualification methods.
- Language skills: Fluency in English and Portuguese; German is considered an advantage.
- Personal qualities: Strong sense of ownership, analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- Team player: Comfortable working in international and cross-functional environments, coordinating with stakeholders across multiple locations and cultures
